Obituary of William Dean Mayes, Jr.

William Dean Mayes, Jr, 69, of Meridian passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021.  Dean was born in Boise, Idaho to Dean Sr. and Dorothea Mayes on May 21, 1951.  He attended schools in Meridian, from elementary to graduation in 1968 from Meridian High School.

 

Dean attended the University of Idaho for 1 year then came back to the valley, working several odd jobs, then in January of 1971 went to work for his parents in the insurance business. He was licensed and signed a contract with Farmers Insurance in July, 1972.  He continued until December 31, 2009.

On January 1, 2010 Dean opened Generations Plaza Insurance and Independent Insurance Agency with Jennifer Hamilton.

 

During this time Dean was involved with Meridian Chamber of Commerce, Meridian Police as a reserve officer, and Meridian Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years, making life-long friends with many people.

 

Survivors include his two daughters: Jennifer Mayes and Angela Stine; 4 grandsons: Pierce and Gage Bryner and Landon and Haydon Stine.

 

The family would like to give a special thanks to Jennifer Hamilton, Dean’s work wife, at Generations Plaza Insurance for the love and care given to Dean the last 15 years.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 4th at Meridian Cemetery.  Remembrances may be left on Dean’s webpage at www.AccentFuneral.com.  The family requests that you attend the service wearing red rather than black and in lieu of flowers, enjoy a Captain and Coke cocktail.  Services are under the care of Accent Funeral Home and Cremation, Meridian.
