Obituary of Leslie Rodney Rogers

Leslie R Rogers, 69, of Nampa passed away peacefully on Monday, September 27, 2021, with his friends by his side.

Leslie was born November 28, 1951, in San Diego, California to Orville and Mable Rogers and raised in Ventura. He moved to Idaho in 1968 where he graduated from NNU with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Beginning in July 1977, and for the next 35 years, Leslie was employed by the State of Idaho, retiring in November 2012. His entire state career was for the same agency, the Department of Labor and Industrial Services (DLIS) which eventually became the Division of Building Safety (DBS). His first job was as an account technician in purchasing and he was the only man in an office of women. Eventually he purchased the first computers for DLIS and became the first Information Technology person for that agency.

With an avid interest in photography, Leslie took wedding pictures, graduation pictures and others as requested by his friends. He also loved stamp collecting, target shooting and trains. Taking road trips both for fun, as well as for his job, traveling all around the state was something he looked forward to. Over the years he developed a love of tigers, especially the Bengal tigers Enzo and Diego in South Africa.

Leslie was a devoutly religious man who never swore or spoke a mean word about another person. He was a very sensitive caring individual with a tremendous stubborn streak. He generously donated his time to help others when asked. Through all his health struggles, Leslie always maintained a very positive outlook on life.

A special thank you to the staff at Wellspring Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia, in Nampa, for their care, kindness and friendship during Leslie’s stay with them. He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 14^th at Kohler Lawn Cemetery, 76 6^th St. N in Nampa.  In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite wildlife charity.
