Obituary of Bethel Ilene Woods

Bethel Ilene Woods, 80, passed away Saturday morning November 6, 2021, at her home in Meridian, Idaho.

She was born June 2, 1941 in Seattle, Washington to the family of Lyle and Viola Fleming. After the war, the family moved to Lancaster, California where Bethel lived for many years.

On June 10, 1972 she married John Woods. John worked in the field of aircraft and Bethel in grade schools until they retired. They were active at First Church of the Nazarene in Lancaster, and especially involved in Nazarene missions and Compassionate Ministries. They participated in a number of Work and Witness overseas missions trips in the Dominican Republic and elsewhere, and also traveled as lifelong learners to Europe, Israel and Turkey.

In 2016 Bethel and John moved to Meridian, Idaho, and became active members of Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene.

Bethel was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Viola Fleming, as well as a brother, Russell. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, John Woods, and a number of cousins.

Bethel was a wonderful person with a twinkle in her eye, a joy to know. She loved the Lord and His Church, and was loved and cherished by those privileged to know her.
