Obituary of Susanne Marie Daniels

Susanne Marie Daniels passed away peacefully in her sleep at her daughter’s home in Meridian, Idaho on Monday, November 8, 2021. Susanne was born in Emmett, Idaho on October 17, 1946, the fourth child and first girl, to Ralph and Burnadette Pettinger. Being the first daughter and the first granddaughter, she immediately became everyone’s favorite child, according to her! Five younger siblings followed over the years, and Susanne loved being part of a big family of six brothers and two sisters. She married Rick Hoverson in April, 1967. Susanne and Rick had two children, Cathy and John.  She married her second husband, Eric Daniels, in August, 1989.  Susanne was especially proud of being the first daughter of Ralph and Burnadette, and then having their first granddaughter, Cathy, their first great grandchild, Christopher, and their first great great granddaughter, Remy.

Susanne retired after having worked for the Department of Education and Boise School District. She was a life-long learner, so it’s only fitting to have spent most of her career in education. Once retired, Susanne joined a book club she loved to attend, and she maintained her large vocabulary to help with her domination on the Scrabble board. Spending time with her family was her favorite activity, and two things she always looked forward to were her sibling dinners and her lunches with her grandson. Susanne loved to spend time with “the girlfriends” and “the boys,” and you could find her lounging by the pool with her sister whenever possible during the summer months.

Susanne is survived by her children: Cathy Skidmore and John Hoverson (Laurie); grandchildren: Chris Skidmore (Kelsy), Ainsley and Aleah Skidmore; great granddaughter, Remy Skidmore; brothers: Dean Pettinger, Don Pettinger (Chris), John Pettinger (Cheryl), Steve Pettinger (Karen), Richard Pettinger; sisters: Anna Pettinger, Catherine Wiegand; sister-in-law, Karen Pettinger; and many nieces and nephews.  Susanne was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary Pettinger; sister-in-law, Ann Pettinger; brother-in-law, Fred Wiegand; nephew, Christopher Cowman.  Her sense of humor and love of family will be greatly missed.  Please consider donating to the Idaho Humane Society in lieu of flowers.

Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, December 4^th, the rosary will begin at 10:30 AM followed by mass at 11:00 AM.  Remembrances may be left for the family on Susanne’s webpage at www.AccentFuneral.com.  Cremation arrangements are under the care of Accent Funeral Home and Cremation, Meridian.
