Obituary of Virginia Lee Hayes

Hayes, Virginia, 78, passed away at a local hospital on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.  Arrangements are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home & Cremation.

Virginia Hayes brought light to all those around her, through her beautiful smile, loving hand and caring heart. Known by her friends as Ginger, Ginny or Gin, she was always up for laughter, travel, good food and dancing. She was a devoted Mother, Wife, Friend and Grandmother. Over the years Virginia adopted many stray pets, took care of other people’s children, and generally gave her nurturing spirit and loving heart to those that surrounded her. Ginger maintained many friendships for over 50-60 years, and all of her friends speak of her infectious laugh, love of food, fun spirit, and natural beauty inside and out.

Virginia is survived by Warren Hayes, her husband of almost 50 years. She is also survived by her two children (Heather, 47 & Scott, 42), and her 4 grandsons (Declan, Chase, Keegan & Mason).

After raising her children, Virginia went back to work for the State of California, and eventually retired, after receiving praise and Innovation Awards for her problem solving to benefit internal department processes. She was a natural problem solver.

In her retirement she enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and family. Her fierce will and determination served her well in her successful battle against Cancer, and sustained her through years of various subsequent health challenges. We were all blessed to have her with us for as long as we did. She was thankful that she got to spend her last years seeing her grandchildren grow, as they brought her such joy.

Her amazing spirit will live on in our hearts, and she will be forever missed by all who knew her.

Please share a story or a sentiment that you remember her by, so that we can all keep the happier times close to our hearts.
