Obituary of Renee Madeline Hon

Hon, Renee, 69, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away on January 22, 2022, in Meridian, Idaho.

Renee Diaz was born in Leavenworth, Kansas to Ramon and Marjorie Diaz on October 1, 1952. She attended high school at Crestmoor Hight School in San Bruno, California and later Ambassador College in Pasadena, California. Her passion was working within the medical field for most of her career. She found joy when her career also included teaching. Her family was always her priority and was her greatest fulfilment. She enjoyed volunteering at the Chabad Center including teaching the children at Hebrew school.

Renee is survived by her husband, James Hon of Idaho, her sister Denise McNeil of Idaho, her brother Ramon Diaz of Florida, and her children Brendan and Michele Smythe of Idaho, Serena and Christopher Ecton of North Carolina, Robyn and Joshua Pinkert of North Carolina, Kristin and James Escobar of Idaho, Amanda and Michael Carothers of California, her grandchildren Brendan Smythe, Talya Edwards, Elizabeth Smythe, Andrew Smythe, Luke Ecton, Brogan Ecton, Jared Ecton, Lourdes Pinkert, Gavin Smythe, Zion Pinkert, Uri Pinkert, Tyler Hon, Audrey Escobar, Grace Escobar, James Escobar, Makayla Carothers, Kinsley Carothers, Owen Carothers, one great grandchild Byron Smythe, niece Lena Lipkowitz of California, and nephew Timothy McNeil of Washington. She is preceded in death by her first husband Byron Smythe, parents Ramon and Marjorie Diaz and her brother Philip Diaz.

Funeral service will be held graveside at Meridian Cemetery, 895 East Franklin Road Meridian, ID on Tuesday January 25, 2022, promptly at 3:00pm with Rabbi Mendel Lifshitz of Chabid Lubavitch of Idaho officiating. Shiva will be observed for immediate family directly following burial at the Hon residence 2541 West Torana Dr. Meridian, ID 83646. Per tradition friends and community are welcome to visit after three days.
