Jo Ann McCloud Myers – 1938-2022

Jo Ann McCloud Myers, 83, of Meridian passed from this life into God’s loving embrace on May 21, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer.

Jo Ann was born on Christmas Eve 1938 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Morell and Melissa McCloud of Wendell, Idaho. She attended school in Wendell and graduated from Wendell High School in 1956. She attended Idaho State College for two years in business then moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where she began her banking career.

Jo Ann met her future groom, Bert Myers, while attending Idaho State. They married on March 25, 1961, in Twin Falls. From 1961 to 1972 they spent time living in Twin Falls, Idaho to Yakima then Omak, Washington and Pendleton, Oregon before settling in Meridian, Idaho in 1972, all the while making lasting friendships and stories to cherish forever.

Jo Ann continued her banking career and retired from Farmers & Merchants State Bank. We are all lucky Hollywood did not sweep her away with them when “Bronco Billy” came to film in Boise in 1979. She’s made the cut in the bank robbery scene.

Jo Ann was passionate about family. Often hosting family dinners, birthday dinners and if BSU football was being played she was watching it surrounded by family. Family exceeded blood bonds for Jo Ann; she had many people in her life that were not family but were treated as family. She had friends everywhere she went. The family used to tease Bert about knowing someone everywhere he went, well Jo Ann followed suit. She could, and did, strike up a conversation wherever, whenever, and with whomever she saw fit.

Traveling was also a passion for Jo Ann. She loved traveling with her cherished friends and most recently to Scotland with her daughter, Jodi. Her time on the Hawaiian Islands with Bert was also treasured time.

Jo Ann and Bert were founding members of the Church of the Holy Nativity Episcopal church in Meridian, Idaho. They took the church from humble beginnings on 8th street to its current location on Cherry Lane where she served as the Senior Warden at the time of her passing.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Bert Myers and her parents and siblings. She is survived by her children: Mike (Kirsten) Myers, Mark (Ami) Myers, and Jodi (Darren) Hoppins. She is also survived by her grandchildren which she adored: Joe (Marla) Myers, Jake Myers, Joanna “JJ” (Brandon) Toner, Dixon Hoppins, Dirk Hoppins, and Olivia Myers. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and friends that feel like family mourning her loss and cherishing the fact they shared a life with the amazing, Jo Ann Myers.
