Obituary of Richard Arthur Ekhamel

Richard Arthur Ekhaml, 89, passed peacefully at St Luke’s Hospital in Boise, Idaho, on December 24, 2022 with family present, from medical complications after a surgical procedure.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Margaret, together they raised 5 children.

Richard was born on January 10, 1933 to Richard and Elizabeth Ekhaml in St. Paul, Minnesota. After graduating from Cretin High School,  he earned multiple degrees from the University of Minnesota and began a career in teaching.  In 1957 he moved to San Diego to raise his family and eventually to Idaho in 1991.

Music was his passion.  He was an accomplished Bassoonist and played multiple other instruments as well.  Richard especially enjoyed his family, camping, fishing, reading, and listening to classical music.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 10th at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, rosary will begin at 10 AM with mass to follow at 11 AM. Services are under the care of Accent Funeral Home and Cremation, Meridian, 208-888-5833.  Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com.
