I am very saddened to hear of Moochs passing. We last spoke in late 2022, and he sounded great. We spoke for over an hour that day. I recently reached out via text and did not hear back. I did a little research and I am heart broken to learn of his passing just over a year ago.
Jim and I met in 1987 when we teamed up to broadcast Boise Hawks minor league baseball games. Always as great eater and better sport, I loved to pull a prank on him and it never got old.
Typically Jim would take over the mic and broadast the 6th and 7th innings.
It just happened that quite often the snack bar would send up some hot dogs to the press box before the top of the 5th inning. Jim would be first in line to grab one of those dogs. He would load it up with all the fixings and take a big bite. Just as he would do that I would announce "And now for the play by play of the 5 th inning, here's Jim". It was a full inning before he was suppose to take the mic and he would be caught by suprise with an open mic and a mouth full of hot dog......The entire press box would just bust out laughing.
Later I lived in Reno and Jim would come down and play in my annual golf tournament. Never missing a single one. Jim was a big Boise State Fan and we would razz each other when ever Boise played Nevada. He was usually the one that got to rub it in after a win, but it always left me with a smile on my face when he would reach out with the final score. I think of Jim often and will always consider him one of my dearest friends. I am sorry I did not know he was sick or of his passing. He will continue to be in my prayers as he has been for the 3 decades I knew him.
God Bless

Thinking fondly of times spent with Gino over the years I knew him. First as my parents (Kevin and Anne) good neighbor, who would visit frequently, and invite us to Carol + his back yard BBQs. And later when I got involved with TOUCO - The Tanzanian Orphans non-profit where we served on the board of directors for many years together. He was so generous with his time and treasure in this ministry, helping organize those donor appreciation dinners, always at meetings, helping stuff envelopes for the mailer, and would pray with a real sincerity. I think of his humor, jovial personality, hospitality, kindness, compassion for friends and children. His friendship to my parents and our extended family over the years was a blessing. He became a part of our family too. See you on the other side my friend.
