Obituary of Edde Mary Sailer

Edde M. Sailer, our beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in Payette, Idaho surrounded by family.

Edde was born in Philadelphia, PA to Edward and Lillian Sailer. Edde was raised with a Catholic education and graduated from Little Flower High School in 1958. While most of her childhood was spent in Philadelphia, summers were for the shores of Atlantic City, where Edde and her siblings would spend their days playing in the ocean and exploring the boardwalk. Edde’s childhood home was a musical one, and she reveled in memories of time spent around the piano with friends, and family, honing the beautiful voice she was so well known for.

After graduation, Edde began her career as a lead singer, touring with a number of bands, most notably Stan Kenton. In her early twenties, Edde moved to New York City, a place she would call home for the next 55 years. After many happy, musical years, Edde made a shift in her career path and became an executive secretary for a prestigious trading firm. Edde enjoyed the unique challenges the job presented her as well as the endearing friendships she made along the way. Rather than make a full retirement, Edde started a pet sitting business, an endeavor she continued until shortly before exiting New York.

Edde’s passion for New York City was contagious, a love she generously shared with those she cared about. Visits to her apartment on the Upper West Side always included a trip to Zabar’s and dinner at Nick’s or Dallas BBQ. The Macy’s Parade, New York Marathon, Christmas at Rockefeller Center, walks through Central Park, and trips to Brighton Beach, only scratch the surface of the many happy memories Edde made with others over the years.

In the final years of her life, Edde reluctantly left New York City and moved to Kuna, Idaho to be closer to family.

While she possessed many notable talents, Edde will be best remembered for her indomitable spirit, generous nature, and vivacious approach to life. Edde will be deeply missed.

Edde was preceded in death by her parents.

Edde is survived by her siblings: Edward Sailer; Michael Sailer (Roberta), William Sailer, Anne Beal, Anthony Sailer, and Ralph Sailer (Deborah); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff at Payette Healthcare of Cascadia and Heart n’ Home Hospice for the exceptional care Edde received during the final stages of her life.

A viewing will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm at Accent Funeral Home in

Meridian. A celebration of life will be held on the East Coast in the spring, location and date yet to be determined.
