Yolanda Jordan

Obituary of Yolanda Catherine Jordan

Yolanda “Lonnie” Jordan, 97, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side.   She was born on December 8, 1925, to Dominic and Anna Rosso in Lafayette, PA.  She was the youngest of their 6 children.  She had a unique and challenging childhood as her parents both passed by the time she was 6 years old and her older sisters were the ones who raised her.  This upbringing led Yolanda to be very independent, hardworking and acted as a catalyst for her strong faith in Jesus Christ!

Yolanda met the love of her life, William “Bill” Jordan in Reno, NV.  This quickly turned into a union that lasted 58 years until Bill’s death in 2003.  Together they raised a beautiful daughter, Lonnette, who was the light of their lives!  While in San Bernadino, CA Bill and Lonnie worked several jobs to support their young family.  Bill worked in the trucking industry and Lonnie worked as a waitress at “The Taco Kitchen” and “Dewey’s” for several years.  Then an opportunity arose to open a restaurant and cocktail lounge called “The Hut” in the late 50’s.  Bill was the bartender and Lonnie was the lead cocktail waitress.  This working dynamic lead to many interesting stories as they made many friends, which quickly became a popular gathering place in the area for several years before they sold the establishment in 1973.  This allowed them to move to Boise, ID where Lonnette had moved with her husband, Ron, to start their family.  Moving to Idaho from California started the next phase in their journey where they played a huge part in Will and Lorrieann’s lives.  In 1983 Bill and Lonnie built a pool in their backyard.  Their home provided years of entertainment for family and friends as everyone was always welcomed to have a great time in their backyard paradise!

Since 2003, Yolanda lived independently by herself and always welcomed friends and family at her house.  She was a master in the kitchen which highlighted one of her greatest qualities.  She loved to cook for friends and family with many dishes that highlighted her Italian roots.

Yolanda was a dedicated member of St. Mark’s parish where she religiously attended mass every week.  This dedication to her faith was infectious as it pushed us all to do the same!  Over the years she was involved with many bible study groups and prayer chains at St. Mark’s.  Her devotion to her faith in God was the catalyst for many strong friendships that developed through these activities.

She enjoyed maintaining a tidy house and yard.  Her flowers were her pride and joy…and it showed!

Yolanda’s words of wisdom:  Be strong in your faith, be grateful, kind and forgiving….and most of all be yourself!

She is survived by her daughter, Lonnette (Ron) Glasgow of Boise, ID; grandchildren: Lorrieann (James) Garner of Fall River, WI, and William (Elizabeth) Glasgow of Boise, ID; six great-grandchildren: Grace, Luke and Samuel Garner and Jacob, Connor, and Noelle Glasgow.
