Obituary of Alvin Samuel Marsden

     Marsden, Alvin Samuel, 84, of Meridian, passed away, Monday, February 6, 2023 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on

     Alvin Samuel Marsden, 84, went to meet Jesus and reconnect with his lovely bride on Monday, February 6, 2023. He is survived by his son, Chris Marsden and his wife, Michele; grandchildren: Amanda, Jeremy, Ben, Natalie, and great grandchildren: Ava, Zane, Zoe, Antonio, and Parker.

     Al was born in Seattle, Washington to Frank and Dorothy (Ackerman) Marsden. He and his siblings: brother, Frank, and two sisters, Evie and Dorothy-Ann grew up just south of Seattle in a little town called Pacific.

     He married the love of his life, Joanne, on September 5, 1959.

     Al graduated from the University of Washington, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning for which he put to good use over the years.

     In 1967, Al and Joanne adopted a baby boy. Nine months later, they moved to Ft. Worth, Texas for Al’s new job working to improve the transportation system in the Ft. Worth/Dallas area.

     A new job opportunity came open in Boise so they loaded up the truck and arrived in Boise January 1, 1974. Al worked with Ada County of Governments

(ACOG) for a short time, and then started up Marsden & Associates development consulting - among many other companies.

     Al’s consulting business grew and he became a prolific land planner, designing and developing many subdivisions throughout the Treasure Valley. He dreamed big and developed big. As he grew older, the dreams got bigger and bigger.

     In early 1995, Al received an artificial heart, and later that year received a full heart transplant. He beat all the odds, surviving well beyond all expectations except his own.

     A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 24, at Capital Church 2760 E. Fairview Ave. If attending, please enter from the east side of the building.
