Obituary of Jeffrey Wayne Casey

Jeffrey W Casey February 7, 1944

Long-time local business owner passed away at 79-years-young on March 10, 2023, after a courageous battle with Stage 4 Metastatic Cancer. Over Jeff’s lifetime, he owned and operated eight Taco Time’s; Casey’s Beer Depot on Vista; developed Cafe’ Ole’ Restaurant & Cantina opening in the 8th St. Marketplace on Dec 28, 1981, continuing with six other locations; five Wendy’s and two Golden Corrals.

Jeff earned his pilot’s license in 1983 not only as a means to travel between all of his restaurants, but to be a part of his many wild & crazy adventures. An avid bird hunter, fisherman and golfer, Jeff always looked forward to experiences in the great outdoors with a big smile no matter where life took him — Alaska, the Amazon, Snake & Salmon Rivers (Mackay Bar & Polly Bemis), Germany, London, North Dakota, Oshkosh, Panama, Scotland, Silver Creek and Henry’s Lake.

Since 1970, Jeff was a generous BSU fan attending hundreds of home/ away basketball & football games along with away Women’s Golf tournaments in his orange & blue. He was a Lifetime Pavilion patron, President’s Club, Football Coaches Club, Lyle Smith Society, College of Business & Economics Endowment with a Classroom in their names, Women’s Golf & Soccer Endowment, BSU Alumni Association member, and served nine years on the BSU Foundation Board.

Jeff met his best friend and loving wife, Pamela in 1990 and the two became instantly inseparable. He is survived by his six children - Culley (Lynnette) Casey, Melanie Casey in California, Echo (Reggie) Reinsch, Brandt (Margie) Casey, Chris Casey and Katie Casey in Boise, younger brother - Mike (Judy) Casey in Ogden, six grandchildren (Jaime & husband Matt, Cameron of Santa Rosa, Ryder, Colin, Creed and Cael of Boise), a great-granddaughter, Lana; brother-in-laws, Steve (Dode) Dugger of Homedale, Craig (Nora) Dugger, sister-in-law, Chris Dugger of Boise, nieces & nephews plus many great friends. Preceded in death by his parents - Bette & Wayne Casey; younger brother, Danny; and grandson, Ray Burnside. The family would like to thank the wonderful, and most caring St. Luke’s Hospice staff, especially RN Rhea. The Cafe’ Ole’s will continue to be operated by the Casey Family Trust.

A ‘Celebration of Life’ event was held previously on May 13, 2022, where Jeff had a front row seat to hear many shared memories & amusing antics. He asks for charitable donations be made to the Boise State University Pamela & Jeffrey Casey Endowment(s) or the Bronco Athletic Association.
