Obituary of Caden Patrick Young

The first time Cade delighted us was November 10, 2000, when he was born in Boise. The last of four boys, he completed our family.

He quickly showed his independent, yet caring nature, and often stunned us with his never-ending curiosity, complex thinking, clever sense of humor, and stunning range of abilities. He was passionate about everything from military history, guns, sports, hiking, camping, music, and his special gift- writing. He loved straightforward journalism, creative writing, and especially poetry.

He could not wait to finish high school, and attend the University of Idaho and be reunited with his brother Cort, each of whom followed their oldest brother Chase. At U of I Cade repeatedly made the Dean’s list and held every high ranking position in his beloved Fraternity Alpha Kappa Lambda from Secretary to President. He was scheduled to graduate in Journalism  with a minor in Anthropology, next fall. At that point, he had many plans of pursuit.

Though this seems impossibly difficult for us, we are an extremely spiritual family, and embrace the thought, “Speak of the dead often, for that is how they live.” -Carmack   McCarthy

He is with us, he is in us, and we talk with him daily. Often laughing, sometimes crying, but always -regardless of what the moment brings- appreciative of that smart, clever, multi-gifted, wonderful chucklehead Cade, our loved beyond belief brother and son.
