Obituary of Roy Alan Bayford

Bayford, Roy Alan, 89, of Meridian, passed away, Saturday, April 22, 2023 at a local hospital. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home and Cremation, Meridian. 

Roy Alan Bayford was born in London, England on May 13, 1933, to Joseph and Elizabeth Bayford. He experienced the bombing of the city during WWII. In 1950 the family moved to the United States aboard the Queen Mary. They were sponsored and settled in Ben Lomond, California.

Roy was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and was deployed there for a short time before the war ended. After his service, he attended Hartnell College where he majored in journalism. For a short time he even owned his own newspaper.

On June 21, 1958, he married Eileen King in Santa Cruz, California. They welcomed children Joseph Alan, Elizabeth (Lizann), and Collin.

He began employment at Lockheed Martin in 1962, where he worked for 28 years.

On July 31, 1976, he married Lynda McMichael and welcomed step-children Jim, Stella and Kristi.

In 2006, Roy and Lynda said goodbye to California and moved to Meridian, Idaho.

On April 22, 2023, Roy passed away surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife Lynda, all of his children, nineteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, soon to be two.

In a simple word, Grandpa was a character. He loved to talk and had an abundance of stories to tell. He grew the best tomatoes in his garden. Grandpa never met a casino he didn't like, but maybe a slot machine. Most of all, he was loving and generous.
