Obituary of Delores Gene Sprague

Delores Eaton Sprague, age 91, went to her heavenly home on April 26, 2023 at her daughter Esther’s home in San Francisco, California where she resided the past two years.

Delores was born September 20, 1931 in Boise, Idaho to Carl and Elva Bates Eaton. She attended Boise schools and graduated from Boise High School in 1949. She married her sweetheart, John Sprague, shortly after graduation, and they had five children. In 1973, Delores graduated from LPN training at Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot, Idaho where the family resided at the time. She worked as a LPN at Bingham Memorial, Saint Luke’s Hospital (Boise) and Boise Samaritan Village, retiring in 1996; she then did private duty nursing.

Delores loved her family wholeheartedly.  She is survived by her children: Marilyn (Dan) Griep of Boise; Douglas (Christy) Sprague of McCall; Arthur (Rhonda) Sprague of Meridian, Mark Sprague of Jerusalem, Israel, and Esther Sprague of San Francisco.  She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren and spouses; two great-grandsons; Virgil Caldwell her brother-in-law, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Joann Larson and Shirley Caldwell; and brother-in-law, Wayne Larson.  Delores was deeply loved and will be greatly missed, along with her faithful prayers for family and friends.

Delores loved Jesus and was very active in the First Bible Missionary Church.  She lived simply, had a huge heart for anyone in need, and was always very generous with her time and resources.  In lieu of flowers, Delores requested donations for the Boise Rescue Mission (boiserm.org) and The Voice of the Martyrs (persecution.com).

The family wishes to thank UCSF Care at Home and By the Bay Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care for Mom these past two years.  

A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, May 6th at 10 am at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise, Idaho followed by a reception across the street at 219 N. Roosevelt.  A viewing for family and friends is on Friday, May 5th from 4 – 6 pm at Accent Funeral Home in Meridian, Idaho.
