Obituary of Lois Marie Horr

Lois Marie Robert Horr, 84, passed away peacefully at her Boise, Idaho home, May 3, 2023.

Lois was born on August 25, 1938, in Toppenish, Washington.  She was one of six children, born to her parents, Alfred Robert and Genevieve Palmer.  She lived in Washington for many years, residing in Sunnyside during her early years and Grandview shortly after she married her first husband, Edward Lucero, in 1955.  They had three children together (Linda, Laurie, and Bob) and moved to Seattle where they lived for about five years before divorcing in 1969.  Lois met and started dating Richard Horr soon after and they moved to Boise, Idaho to start their lives together.  They were married on October 10, 1970 and their daughter, Jennifer, was born in 1974.  Soon after Jennifer was born, Lois began working at Skaggs.  She continued to work in the same building for about 20 years after Skaggs became Payless Drug Store and later Rite-Aid Pharmacy.

Lois was a cradle Catholic and was active in her faith community.  She had a lifetime love of sewing and quilting and enjoyed ceramics as well.  She had a good eye for detail so her pieces came out exquisite.  She took great pride in making cups for the local Ducks Unlimited conservation group for many years.  When she wasn’t working on a daily craft, she was preparing pieces for her next church bizarre.  She also enjoyed her Friday evenings spent with good friends who shared her love for sewing and quilting.

Lois is survived by her youngest brother, Alfred (Paula) Robert, her sister, Phyllis Robert, and her four children, Linda (Jesse) Newman, Laurie (Bruce) Newman, Robert “Bob” Lucero, and Jennifer (Tim) Richardson.  She was known as “Grammy” to several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.  She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

A funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Boise, Idaho.  Rosary will start at 10:00 A.M. and funeral mass will begin at 11:00 A.M.  A reception with Lois’ family is to follow the funeral mass and will be held at her daughter’s home at 2707 Greenwood Circle in Boise.
