Sallie Crum

Obituary of Sallie Elizabeth Crum

Sallie Elizabeth (Liz) Crum

4-4-1929 to 11-14-2023

Sallie “Liz” Crum, was born 4-4-1929, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Lewiston, Idaho to Arch L. and Margaret White.  She lived with her parents and older brother Archie and older sister Ada in Clarkston, Washington. She attended Holy Family Catholic School and Clarkston High School. After high school, Liz worked at Browns Tog Shop in downtown Lewiston.

In 1952, Liz married Norman F.  Crum at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston.   After living in several eastern Washington towns, they settled in Lewiston in 1960.

Norm and Liz were blessed with 5 sons, who made life quite interesting for them!  They include:

Douglas (Mary)

Gary (Tammy) Gary was called to heaven in 2007.

Curtis (Debra)

Timothy (Karen) Karen was called to heaven in 2021.

Kevin (Mary)

For Liz, life with 5 boys was a whirlwind of sports, band, church, scouts, camping, gardening, canning, laundry, and constant cooking!  She loved spending time with her family at their lake Coeur D’ Alene place.  Liz was the original “MacGyver”, and could fix almost anything with a clothespin, wrench, and electrical tape! She could strip down a bicycle, paint it and rebuild it while balancing a couple little ones on her hip!

She and Norman were members of Our Lady of Lourdes, Saint James, and All Saints Catholic churches in Lewiston.

Norm and Liz owned and operated Parts Headquarters Auto Parts stores, one downtown and one in the orchards.  When they retired, for several years they loved spending the winters in Mexico and summers at Lake Coeur D’ Alene, while maintaining their home in Lewiston.

After Norm passed away in 2013, Liz maintained her Lewiston home until 2020, when she moved to Boise to be closer to family.  This gave her the opportunity to spend more time with some of her grand and great grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than being around her 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren!  They all loved being with “Grandma Liz”!

When Liz was promoted to heaven, she was surrounded by her four surviving boys and one of her nieces.

Since her passing, we have heard from so many people who have related stories about how Liz touched their lives.  She could truly connect with people, and always had a smile ready to share. Some of those stories came from the caregivers at Grace Assisted Living and Grace Memory where she spent the last few years.  Special thanks to the staff at Grace!

Liz is survived by her four sons, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
