Don Miller

Obituary of Don Clay Miller

Born June 3, 1951, in Nampa, ID, Donnie Clay Miller lived a full childhood, growing up on the Blacks Creek Family ranch. He often reminisced of childhood memories. Don would giggle before starting his stories and oh, what a good story he would tell. Knowing they were true made them even more special. A favorite we liked to hear was the time, as a kid, he had finished watching an old western show. He decided to take his pony, Jumper, down to the hay barn and try to jump out the barn window onto Jumper’s back. He spent a good bit of time positioning his pony, running up the stairs only to discover Jumper had moved, having to then run down and reposition him under the window. After quite a few times of running up and down the hay barn stairs, Jumper finally stayed in the right spot. So, Don took a leap landing on Jumper, only to have Jumper fall to his knees, and Don feel much pain. Many quirky silly stories such as this are what we will hold onto when thinking of Don.

Don married the love of his life, Sandy, in the summer of 1971 on July 9, having many adventures and hobbies together, and three children along the way: Toby, Cody, and Tawnya. Much of their time was spent as a family doing “Miller quality family time,” which entailed working together, bucking hay, cleaning out the barn, or just doing chores. Into later years, rodeos were a big part of the family’s traveling fun. As family was a big part of Don and Sandy’s life, they made sure to instill the importance of family into their children along with giving them all a strong work ethic. They have always been proud of their children.

Don is proceeded in death by his father, Clay Miller; May his favorite dog, Dually, have been there at the pearly gates, to welcome him home. Surviving family members loving him forever: his loving wife, Sandy Miller; Children and their spouses: Toby (Shannon) Miller, Cody (Amie) Miller, and Tawnya (Dane) Hulbert. Grandchildren: Hazen, Dallen, Haylynne, Austin, Casey, and Billie; his mother, Betty Miller; and brother, Bob (Carla) Miller.

It’s been a good ride, my trails at an end, but don’t you fret about me, my friend… With the Lord by my side, I’m riding in glory; I’m at peace on the path that He laid out before me. Take comfort in knowing we will meet again where Earth’s trail ends and forever begins.
