Anne Odell

Obituary of Anne Marie Odell

Anne M. Odell passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on December 28, 2023.  Anne was born on September 28, 1929, in Glenns Ferry, Idaho, to John and Marguerite McGill.  After her high school graduation, she attended St. Mary-of-the-Wasatch College.   Anne met her future husband, Don Odell, on her birthday in Glenns Ferry, Idaho, while he was stationed at the Mountain Home Air Force Base.  They soon fell in love and were engaged on Valentine’s Day.  They were married at Our Lady of Limerick Catholic Church in Glenns Ferry, Idaho in 1953.  Don was sent to Japan two weeks later and spent two years serving his country.  During that time, Anne continued her career at the bank in Glenns Ferry, Idaho.     Upon the completion of Don’s military service, the couple moved to Boise and were blessed with four daughters.

After raising their family and Don’s retirement, Anne and Don spent their time traveling around in their motorhome meeting new friends, seeing new places and visiting family and friends.

Anne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, traveling, cooking, baking, crafting, reading, and taking care of her beloved pets.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was known as “Grammie”.  She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Anne leaves behind  her four daughters and their husbands: Margie and Doug Hollinger of Midway, Utah, Kathy and Tim Kohler of Goodyear, Arizona, Karen and Chris Mansfield of Spokane, Washington, Lisa and Todd Gooding of Boise, Idaho; 8 grandchildren: Katie (Kevin) Weirich,  Jason (Chelsee) Hollinger, Kelsey (Jeff) Hassebrock,  Kaela Mansfield (Stu Barton), Alex (Casey) Drayton, Ryan (Emily) Mansfield, Kassie (Troy) Abbott,  Stephanie (David) Claiborne; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Anne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don; and parents, John and Marguerite McGill.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the love and care provided by First Choice Hospice of Boise and Homewatch CareGivers of Boise.
