Obituary of Jan Malary Fitzpatrick

Jan Malary Fitzpatrick passed away peacefully Friday January 12, 2024 at home with her loving family at her side.

Jan was born in Glendale, California on May 12, 1935, and lived the life of an only child and loved it.  During her childhood they lived in Kansas City, Salt Lake City, Twin Falls ID, and Seattle before settling in Merced California.  Jan went to the University of Washington where she met her future husband, Bob Fitzpatrick.  After graduating in 1956, Jan and Bob were happily married at the end of that year. They lived in Seattle for several years before moving to Olympia, Washington and then Yakima, Washington.  In 1971 they moved to Boise and have lived there ever since.  Jan worked for the law firm of Moffatt, Thomas, Barrett and Blanton for 20+ then they both retired in 1994.

Jan enjoyed Bridge, reading, baking, Christmas parties, skiing and traveling with their friends. Every Christmas she would give all her friends cinnamon rolls and they all wanted the recipe, but it was a secret.  Jan dragged Bob’s heels all over the world to see Ireland, Europe, Russia, the Mediterranean, all parts of the Caribbean, Mexico and of course most of the United States. It was great fun for the whole family when they decided to start staying somewhere “Sunny” for the month of February and have each of the kids spend a week.  Lincoln City, Oregon then became their favorite getaway, going there 2 to 3 times a year. Family and friends were very important for Bob and Jan.  They hosted so many events from Boise River Tubing get-togethers, backyard BBQs, and most importantly Boise State Tailgate parties. Everyone was their friend.

Along the way Jan and Bob had four wonderful children: Paul (Gus), Margee, Mary, and Joe.  They also loved their “favorite” son-in-law, Tre Mendiola, and their “favorite” daughter-in-law, Karen Fitzpatrick.  They also have 5 grandsons: Randy, Austin (Krista), Quinn (Maddie), Riley, and Roshawn and 4 great grandchildren: Silas, Scarlet, Ruby and Violet.  Everyone will miss their Mom, Grandma and Granny but will never forget the great times they enjoyed with her. She is preceded in death by parents, Harry and Margaret Williams; husband, Bob, and her son, Joe.

The family would like to thank Keystone Health and Accent Funeral Home for their help and support along with all their friends for their thoughts and prayers.  There will be a Celebration of Life in the Spring.   Memorial contributions may be made in Jan’s name to the Idaho Humane Society.
