Obituary of Norm Marcum

Normie L. Marcum, 82, of Meridian, Idaho passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2024.

He was born on August 11, 1941 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Fred and Alice Marcum, where they raised him and his three siblings on the family farm. He attended school in Nowata and graduated from Nowata High, in 1959. Normie joined the Air Force after high school and was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho. In 1963, he met and married Rueanna (Valain) Anderton. Together, they had a boy born in 1964, and a girl born in 1966. After leaving the Air Force, Normie joined the Boise City Police Department and proudly served the public from 1965 until his retirement in 1996. After his divorce from Rueanna in 1968, he met Brenda Shipley, and they married in June of 1969. With the assistance of his stepdad Daryel Melvin, and some contractors, they built their forever home in 1979 and welcomed a daughter, in 1981. Normie and Brenda gave their lives to the Lord and were baptized in 1999 and found their home church at Eagle Christian Church in 2005. Normie was a talented handyman, and his skills came in handy in many areas of his life. Normie was also a gifted and skilled craftsman, enjoying building many things from shops, cedar chests, furniture and gag gifts like exploding outhouses. Normie and Brenda enjoyed many years of life, family, fishing, and traveling with their kids and mothers in tow.

Normie is preceded in death by his parents and brother Terry Lee Marcum.
