Obituary of Linda Jane Basile

Linda Jane Basile - November 24, 1948 – March 7, 2024

 

In the loving memory of Linda Jane Basile, she was a beacon of strength and unwavering support to her family, who passed away peacefully into the night to be with angels after a brave battle with cancer. Linda, otherwise known as Nana, was not only the heart of her family but also an inspiring figure to all who met her.

Beyond her professional achievements, Linda became the Chief Financial Officer of one of the largest agriculture companies in California.  She was the love of her husband, Jim Basile’s, life. Linda “Nana,” was a true matriarch, filled with love for her children: Ed (Jill Crowley), Gerilyn (Rich Gillespy), and Angie (Larry Hickman); grandchildren: Ricky (Florentina), Ryan, Camryn, Christian, and Mikayla; great-granddaughter, Chase. She played many roles—nurse, librarian, girl-scout leader, protector, costume maker, party planner, provider, banker, consultant, advisor, teacher, and so much more. Despite facing life's hardest challenges prior to marrying Jim, she stood as a single mother, a warrior, teaching her children resilience, compassion, and the true value of family.

She is survived by and will also always be living here in the hearts of her sister, Carol Quinby Machi, (Manny “Spud” Machi Jr) and their son, Manny Machi III (Nicole), and great nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Lois Quinby; brother, Paul Quinby.

She will forever be remembered as our guiding star, our Nana, our biggest cheerleader, and the epitome of love and strength. Her legacy of love, endurance, and dedication continues in the lives of her three children, and everyone who was touched by her extraordinary spirit.
